Couch Fort Stage

Idea from: Faceman

Built by: Justin Hicks, Keli Sequoia, Katie Webster, Faceman

Materials: Assorted thrift store items such as blankets, balloons, pictures, mirrors, etc.

One of our favorite and quickest creations for Faceman, the couch fort was an amazing transformation of the Walnut Room’s stage into child’s fantasy escape. Blankets were stitched together to create a proscenium and backdrop, and assorted household items and balloons were hung to give the illusion of a cobbled together couch fort made by a child. The audience and bands could interact with the hung items, and did so throughout the night’s performance. This might be the most blatant and beautiful example of Faceman’s attempt to keep his childhood aspirations alive in an adult world.
